Iranian Athlete to Gift Gold Medal to Family of Fallen Athlete Arthur Sukiasyan

According to the Facebook page of the Armenian Embassy in Iran, Ahmad Bagheripour, an Iranian athlete who won a gold medal at the 12th Open Karate Championship of Armenia held in October 2017, has decided to dedicate his gold medal as a tribute to the family of Armenian athlete Arthur Sukiasyan, who was killed during the 2020 Artsakh War.

“Arthur Sukiasyan and Ahmad Bagheripour have competed together in several championships and have formed a friendship. On January 13, the Iranian athlete presented his gold medal to Gor Shahverdyan, the third secretary of the Armenian Embassy in the Islamic Republic of Iran, with the aim of passing it on to Arthur Sukiasyan's family,” the embassy's Facebook post stated.
