Illegal Factory-Numbered Assault Rifle Found in 26-Year-Old's Apartment

The criminal investigators of the Sevan division of the police obtained operational information that one of the residents on Nairyan street in Sevan was keeping illegal firearms at home.

On January 12, the criminal investigators visited the apartment of the 26-year-old individual. At the request of the police, he presented a factory-numbered "Kalashnikov" assault rifle.

The police report indicates that there were 22 bullets of 5.45 mm caliber in possession. The young man stated that he had received the assault rifle in Artsakh last October and brought it back to Sevan.

A forensic examination has been appointed. The police once again urge individuals to voluntarily hand over any illegally possessed weapons and ammunition to avoid criminal liability.
