Government Inclined to Extend Import Ban on Turkish Goods: Kerobyan
The Armenian government is currently inclined to extend the import ban on Turkish goods. This was stated by Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan during a conversation with reporters after a government meeting.
“At this moment, we are inclined to extend the ban on the import of Turkish goods, unless geopolitical changes occur that would make it impossible. This is being done to protect local production,” the minister said.
Addressing the presence of products marked with Turkish and Azerbaijani labels in the Armenian market, the minister noted that for decades, products marked with Turkish and Azerbaijani labels have been present in the Armenian market. “There have been numerous Turkish products, and it was considered normal at that time. Now, if we insist that ‘Sandoran’ or ‘Coca-Cola’ sells us products that do not have Azerbaijani labeling, inflation will rise and become 10 percent, because those companies will have to spend money and incorporate that into their product prices,” Vahan Kerobyan emphasized.
