Georgian Airways Launches Temporary Charter Flights from Yerevan to Moscow
Georgian Airways has commenced its first charter flights from Tbilisi to Moscow via Yerevan during the coronavirus pandemic, as a special exception. This information was reported by RIA Novosti, referencing the airline.
"The airline has started operating several flights towards Moscow via Yerevan, but this is a temporary decision related to the New Year holidays. We do not yet know if such flights will be operated in the future," the message states.
It is noted that due to the coronavirus, Georgia has closed all borders and suspended air traffic with all countries. Georgian Airways, with government support, has carried out special flights to bring Georgian citizens back to their homeland.
Later, the Georgian authorities decided to restore regular air traffic with certain countries, primarily European ones. The limitations on international regular air traffic in Georgia will remain in place until January 31, 2021. A decision regarding the extension of this timeframe will be made based on the epidemiological situation in the country and around the world.
At that time, Georgia remains closed to Russian citizens. To reach Georgia from Russia, one must be a Georgian citizen, possess a residence permit, or be a spouse of a Georgian citizen.
