Former Armenian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Dies from Coronavirus

Samvel Galstyan, the former Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Armenia, has died at the age of 72 due to complications from coronavirus.

It is noteworthy that Galstyan had been under indictment in the case involving former President Serzh Sargsyan and others.

From 1984 to 1991, he served as the head of the Kaghzretsken Collective Farm Administration, and from 1989 to 1991, he was a member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.

In 2001, he was appointed as the deputy governor of Ararat province. From 2003 to 2016, he worked as the deputy minister of agriculture before resigning from his position in 2016 at his own request.
