Armenia Acquires and Launches Second DNA Identification Research Device

The Ministry of Health of Armenia has acquired and already begun operating another device for forensic genetic identification research. This information was reported by the Ministry of Health of Armenia.

The ministry states that this will allow for a more expedited organization of the identification process of the remains of fallen servicemen. The device analyzes short tandem repeat (STR) segments characteristic of the human genome, enabling forensic genetic identification examinations through the establishment of kinship links and obtaining data that meets international standards.

Previously, Armenia had only one such device, which was acquired in December 2018. Since the war that lasted from September 27 to November 9, it has been operating in a 24/7 mode.
