448 New Cases, 12 Deaths in One Day: Updated COVID-19 Data

The number of COVID-19 infected individuals in Armenia has increased by 448 over the past day, reaching a total of 163,576. This information was reported by the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Currently, 8,043 people are receiving treatment, with a total of 616,520 tests conducted, and 151,849 individuals have recovered from the virus. There have been 2,963 reported deaths (+12). The number of COVID-19 infected individuals who have died from other causes has also increased by 6 over the past day, totaling 721.

It is worth noting that a state of emergency was declared in Armenia on March 16, 2020, which was extended several times and lasted until September 11, 2020. The extended state of emergency conditions underwent certain modifications. Many economic activities were permitted, but mandatory requirements were established.

Wearing masks in public outdoor areas was mandatory. Exemptions were made for children under six years of age, cyclists, individuals exercising, and those with chronic respiratory diseases and heart failure. On September 11, 2020, the Armenian government decided that a quarantine regime would be in effect from September 12 until January 11, 2021.

Some restrictions were eased; however, the requirement to wear masks in public places continued. Considering the existence of the third wave of the coronavirus worldwide and the fact that the number of infected individuals in Armenia remains high, on January 11, 2021, the Armenian government decided to extend the quarantine regime for another six months. It will last until July 11, 2021.
