Armenian Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan Meets with Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov

Armenian Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan, currently on a working visit in Russia, has met with Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov. This was reported by the Prosecutor's Office.

Both Prosecutor Generals expressed satisfaction with the high level of cooperation between their respective institutions, and showed willingness to deepen these ties in accordance with the spirit of strategic alliance and friendship between the two nations.

It was noted that the existing legal framework creates the necessary conditions to protect the rights of their citizens in each other's countries and to enhance the effectiveness of the joint fight against international crime.

The Prosecutor Generals discussed a wide range of issues concerning legal assistance and cooperation in the field of extradition, as well as topics of mutual interest. During the discussion, Arthur Davtyan raised the issue of excluding the possibility of illegal operations against former and current officials of the Republic of Armenia based on unfounded criminal prosecutions initiated by the competent authorities of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Attention was also drawn to the activities of employees of the Russian Prosecutor's Office performing service duties within the framework of the Russian peacekeeping mission in the Republic of Artsakh, along with their cooperation arrangements with the Prosecutor's Offices and law enforcement agencies of Armenia and Artsakh.

The Armenian Prosecutor General emphasized that while the Artsakh Defense Army continues its functions to ensure the safety of the Armenian population in Artsakh, the deployment of Russian peacekeeping forces has significantly increased security guarantees and created grounds for strengthening stability along the contact line.

As a result of the meeting, Arthur Davtyan and Igor Krasnov signed a cooperation program for the years 2021-2022 between the Prosecutor's Offices of Armenia and Russia, which anticipates joint work aimed at the exchange of experiences in various areas of prosecutorial oversight.

For his significant contribution to strengthening legality and international cooperation, Armenian Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan was awarded a certificate of appreciation from the Russian Prosecutor General.
