Anti-Corruption Committee is Not Established, and I Have No Basis to Discuss a Non-Existent Body: Argishti Kyaramyan
Today, media reports indicated that Argishti Kyaramyan, the Deputy Head of the NSS and former Director of the National Security Service, is set to be appointed as the head of the forthcoming Anti-Corruption Committee. In this regard, Tert.am requested a comment from Argishti Kyaramyan:
- Mr. Kyaramyan, there is a publication suggesting that you will be appointed as the head of the yet-to-be-established Anti-Corruption Committee; is there any discussion about this?
- I cannot comment on that, since the body has not yet been formed and I have no basis for making statements regarding the employees of a non-existent body at this moment.
- Mr. Kyaramyan, why were you relieved of your position as the head of the National Security Service during the war? This is a question that has not been answered.
- I see a problem in addressing that question from my personal perspective, because the director of the NSS is appointed and dismissed at the suggestion of the Prime Minister, and that is strictly a matter for the Prime Minister's domain. I do not think it would be appropriate for me to comment on that issue.
- However, was there a reason for you to be relieved from that position?
- I have already conveyed what I had to say.
- Mr. Kyaramyan, your rapid appointments in various structures are continuously discussed. Does this not constrain you? They are becoming topics of speculation.
- I find it inconvenient at this moment, but I will briefly say: I have no comment, but I can mention why it becomes a topic of speculation; perhaps there are people who are concerned about the course of my appointments. I will elaborate on this in detail on another occasion.
