Gagik Jhangiryan May Receive a Position
According to information obtained by HJ, the 'My Step' faction of the National Assembly has been discussing candidates for the vacant position of a member of the Supreme Judicial Council for quite some time. It appears that the faction has reached a consensus to nominate Gagik Jhangiryan, the former military prosecutor of Armenia and former deputy attorney general, for this position.
The news outlet notes that the 'My Step' faction understands that the decision to nominate him for the position of a member of the Supreme Judicial Council will not be universally welcomed by some segments of the public; however, they have decided to prioritize professional qualifications in this case.
According to the media outlet, on January 13, the faction plans to hold a meeting with Jhangiryan at the National Assembly, after which a final decision regarding his nomination will be made. As is known, five members of the Supreme Judicial Council are elected by the National Assembly, while the other five members are elected by a general meeting of judges, ensuring representation from all judicial levels.
