Video: 59-Year-Old Man Beaten to Death, Body Moved in a Box – Police Investigation

On January 8, a man passing along a field road from the city of Vedi to the village of Kaghzrashen noticed a box containing a man's body. At 12:45 PM, he alerted the police.

The operational group of the Ararat Division of the police that responded to the call discovered that the body in the box belonged to 59-year-old Petros Amirkhanyan. According to the Police of the Republic of Armenia, the forensic examination revealed signs of violence on the body. A criminal case was initiated at the territorial investigative division under the signs of murder.

Officers from the Ararat Division, supported by colleagues from the main Criminal Police, as well as divisions from Yerevan and the Ararat region, joined efforts to solve this particularly serious crime.

As a result of their joint work, it was established that the man was beaten to death on January 5. Preliminary data indicates that a gathering had taken place at an apartment on Tumanyan Street in Vedi city, involving several individuals, including minors. A dispute over a household issue had arisen during the gathering.

During this turmoil, the 59-year-old man was beaten by several people, resulting in fatal injuries. Two days after the incident, one of the minors brought his father’s taxi to the place of residence, from where they transported the body in a wooden box along the field road leading from Vedi to Kaghzrashen village, leaving it there.

Police officers swiftly identified the suspects, who were apprehended and taken to the Ararat Division, and subsequently presented at the Vedi Investigative Division for questioning. Four individuals, including two 15-year-old teenagers, were arrested. Operational-search activities and investigative measures to clarify all circumstances of the case are ongoing. An investigation is being conducted.
