Heads of Armenia and Azerbaijan's National Security Services Discuss Border Incidents and Prisoner Exchange Issues

On January 10, the heads of the special services of Armenia and Azerbaijan met to discuss issues related to joint investigations of incidents occurring along the state borders of the two countries and the exchange of prisoners. This was reported by the TASS agency, referencing the press service of Azerbaijan's State Security Service.

Azerbaijan's State Security Service chief Ali Nagiyev and Armenia's National Security Service director Armen Abazyan met in the border areas of Vorotan and Shurnukh, which are part of Armenia's Syunik Province. The meeting also included the head of Azerbaijan's State Border Service, Elchin Guliyev, and the leadership of the border service from the other side.

During the meeting, issues related to the joint investigation of incidents at the state borders, security in Nagorno-Karabakh, the discovery of bodies in the combat zone, and prisoner exchanges were discussed. Additionally, questions regarding the fates of missing persons and hostages were addressed.

Azerbaijan's State Security Service confirmed that both countries' special services had also met on January 8 in the neutral zone along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, located within the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The meeting emphasized that adherence to the ceasefire achieved through the trilateral statement of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia serves the interests and security of both peoples.
