Around 700 Houses to Be Renovated for Displaced Artsakh Residents

In the rural areas of Artsakh, it is planned to renovate and put into operation around 700 individual houses over the next 3-4 months. This information was shared with Armenpress by the Deputy Minister of Urban Development, Azat Hambardzumyan, who added that the houses would be allocated to residents displaced from their native villages.

“As part of the renovation program for uninhabited individual houses in the Askeran, Martuni, and Martakert regions for displaced residents, the renovation of 71 houses has started as of December 30 last year. Of these, 34 have already been commissioned, while renovations of the others are ongoing. The renovation works for the planned 700 houses will begin soon, immediately after receiving the data regarding the number of uninhabited houses from the regional administrations,” elaborated the Deputy Minister of Urban Development, noting that an agreement has been reached between the Ministry of Urban Development and 28 construction companies to begin the renovations concurrently with the recovery work.

In addition to interior and exterior finishing, the rural houses will feature a kitchen and an internal bathroom,” he added, indicating that the financing for the project will be provided through the Armenia Unified Fund. Meanwhile, relevant agreements are being made with regional administrations and owners of uninhabited houses. Furthermore, the program will also include those houses in rural areas that have not been inhabited for many years.
