Turkey's Double Standards Policy Continues: Recep Tayyip Erdogan
Recent events in Europe and the United States have reaffirmed the existence of double standards towards Turkey. This was stated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a video message addressed to participants of the opening ceremony of a bridge and transportation exchange point connecting the provinces of Elazığ and Diyarbakır on January 9, according to the Anadolu Agency.
Erdogan noted that those who accuse Turkey of problems in democracy and human rights accept the most severe restrictions at the time of the first threat.
Several circles abroad, which only verbally express opposition to terrorist acts, have for years hindered Turkey's fight against crime,
the Turkish leader said. He pointed out that recent events in France and those that recently occurred in the United States confirm the bias of Western countries towards these processes.
It is time for the West to rethink its position on the institutes of democracy and human rights. Without self-criticism and rejection of double standards, as well as recognizing the realities in the world, a new crisis will arise, Erdogan emphasized.
