Russian and French Leaders Discuss Upcoming Putin-Pashinyan-Aliev Meeting
Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed several issues related to the upcoming tripartite meeting of the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan with French President Emmanuel Macron via telephone. The information was reported by the Kremlin's press service.
"In the context of coordinating the actions of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, during which they discussed certain issues related to the tripartite meeting of the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan scheduled for January 11 in Moscow," the statement said.
Given the consistent implementation of the joint statement from November 9, 2020, and the stabilization of the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh, it was noted that this meeting primarily aims to address further steps towards establishing peaceful life in the region.
The French President expressed his support for Russia's efforts to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The importance of providing urgent humanitarian assistance to the population affected by the hostilities was emphasized.
Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron also congratulated each other on the occasion of Christmas and New Year celebrations. It was agreed to continue contacts at various levels.
