Parliamentary and Local Elections in Kazakhstan

Parliamentary and local elections are being held in Kazakhstan, reports TASS. Five out of the six political parties operating in Kazakhstan are competing for mandates in the lower house of parliament, including the Kazakhstan People's Party, the currently ruling "Nur Otan" (Light of the Homeland) party, the "Auil" (Village) Democratic Patriotic Party, the "Ak Zhol" (Bright Path) Democratic Party, and the "Adal" (Fairness) party.

According to Kazakhstan's new electoral legislation, at least 30% of candidates in party lists must be women under the age of 29.
