NSS Clarifies: Meeting Between NSS Directors of Armenia and Azerbaijan Held in Goris, Meeting in Tavush Not Planned
The National Security Service of Armenia officially clarifies that reports regarding a meeting scheduled for tomorrow between the Directors of the NSS of Armenia and the State Security Service of Azerbaijan in Tavush Province are not accurate.
Such a meeting format took place days ago in the neutral zone adjacent to the community of Yeraskh in the Ararat Province of Armenia, and also today in the territory of the Goris community in Syunik Province, specifically in Vorotan and Shurnukh settlements, where issues related to prisoner exchanges and the search for missing persons were discussed again.
Furthermore, it should be noted that in recent days, false news and publications containing obvious misinformation have been disseminated by platforms such as “Mediaport” regarding alleged territorial and border issues being included or to be included in the agenda of such meetings of the Director of the National Security Service of Armenia, deliberately misleading the public.
Considering the presence of such unfounded and irresponsible publications, and the fact that the Armenian national security agencies do not have such functions assigned to them, we once again officially inform that the recent meeting of the NSS Director exclusively discussed and will continue to discuss only the aforementioned agenda items as necessary in regular meetings.
Moreover, based on the paramount interests of the nation and the state, the Director of the National Security Service of Armenia exclusively exercises the powers vested in him by law and has never engaged in and will not engage in functions beyond those powers.
At the same time, we again urge the public not to give in to such false news that creates the impression of provocation against the homeland and statehood, and we call on the authors of these false reports to refrain from their unpatriotic conduct, which will have corresponding legal consequences if continued.
