Black Boxes of Crashed Indonesian Passenger Plane Discovered in Java Sea

The Boeing 737-500 aircraft belonging to the Indonesian airline Sriwijaya Air crashed yesterday while en route from Jakarta to Pontianak. The plane, carrying 65 people, fell into the Java Sea. It has been reported that among the 53 passengers were 10 children. All passengers were Indonesian nationals.

It was determined that shortly before air traffic controllers lost contact with the aircraft, it deviated from its flight path. Later, a naval vessel picked up a signal, after which divers discovered the wreckage of the plane at a depth of 23 meters.

In Indonesia, two black boxes have been located at the crash site of the passenger aircraft. This was reported by INTERFAX.RU, referencing a representative of the country's transport safety agency. According to the representative, the location of the two black boxes has been established. “Divers are starting to search for them, and we will soon receive them,” the agency's interlocutor said.
