Twitter Permanently Bans Donald Trump
Twitter has announced that it has permanently suspended Donald Trump, stating that his tweets could incite violence.
The company issued a statement saying, "After carefully reviewing the recent tweets from @RealDonaldTrump and the context around them, particularly how they were received and interpreted on Twitter, we have permanently suspended this account due to the risk of inciting violence." In light of the horrific events of this week, we reported Wednesday that further violations of Twitter's terms of service could lead to this action.
"Our public interest policy allows for the dissemination of direct information from elected officials and world leaders. However, we made it clear years ago that all accounts are subject to our rules and may not use Twitter to incite violence," the statement continued.
Twitter also released an analysis of Trump’s recent tweets and some user responses, concluding that they could provoke further violence.
As of now, the White House and Donald Trump have not commented on the decision.
