Russian Sappers Clear 6.5 Hectares in Nagorno-Karabakh in One Day
Russian sappers have cleared 6.5 hectares of land in Nagorno-Karabakh in a single day, discovering and destroying 787 explosive substances, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Since November 23, 2020, operations conducted by the engineering units of the Russian peacekeeping forces have cleared nearly 446.4 hectares of unexploded ordnance, about 165 kilometers of roads, and 618 residential buildings, including 22 socially significant facilities. A total of 22,542 explosive items have been neutralized.
During the process of demining and clearing dangerous objects in Nagorno-Karabakh, Russian peacekeepers utilize modern robotic technical complexes that allow for high demining rates even in challenging mountainous terrain and worsening weather conditions.
The detected explosive items and malfunctioning munitions are removed and destroyed at specially equipped military testing grounds, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.
