I Understand the Parents Whose Sons Are Being Drafted into the Army and Who Have Many Questions for Armenia's Military-Political Leadership
I understand the parents whose sons are being drafted into the army and who have many questions for Armenia's military-political leadership. However, I consider it extremely dangerous that the thesis of Armenians serving or not serving in Artsakh has gained traction within society. This was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, head of the 'Henaket' analytical center, on his Facebook page.
"I understand that this is often encouraged by the authorities because they have discussions and agreements with Azerbaijan on this issue. But I also understand that there has been a significant emergence of concerns within the public, especially regarding the violations of the November 9 agreements and issues related to the new abductions of Armenian servicemen. People are feeling the absence of the state on their own skin, which unfortunately brings about a multitude of negative consequences. Our compatriots, friends, and the essence of being Armenian are in Artsakh, and they need our support," wrote Abrahamyan.
He emphasized the need to separate the notions of bad governance or the absence thereof from the necessity of standing with the people of Artsakh and supporting them by all possible means. "The Defense Minister and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces need to communicate with people in clear language, no matter how difficult it may be for them at this stage. After all, they are also responsible for the current situation and its potentially dangerous developments. People who are sending soldiers to the army need to clearly understand what problems their sons are solving and how the state envisions its actions. There is a critical need for them to be drafted and serve in various parts of our homeland. Varazdat Harutyunyan, Onik Gasparyan, take every opportunity to talk to people and provide answers to their concerns; they need it," he wrote.
