Criminal Case Involving Former MP Sent to Court

The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia has announced that a criminal case involving a former member of the National Assembly has been sent to court.

According to the statement issued by the Prosecutor General's Office: "Based on a sufficient combination of evidence gathered during the investigation by the National Security Service's investigative department, former MP L. S. has been charged under Article 175, Part 3, Points 1 and 2 of the RA Criminal Code for organizing a robbery on October 27, 2008, with the aim of stealing property worth approximately 45 million AMD from the former head of the State Revenue Committee, Armen Avetisyan, through his close associate A. K. and former police officer A. N."

Additionally, L. S.'s relative S. G. has also been charged with assisting in the crime by providing information.

During the pre-trial investigation, L. S. has been remanded in custody as a preventive measure.

The prosecutor overseeing the criminal case against L. S. and S. G. has confirmed the indictment, and the case has been sent from the Prosecutor General's Office to the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan for substantive examination.

It should be noted that several individuals were convicted in 2011 and sentenced to 8.5 to 15 years in prison for the robbery against former head of the State Revenue Committee Armen Avetisyan, as well as for other criminal offenses.

Notice: The suspected or accused individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code, with a legally binding court decision.
