34-Year-Old Resident of Armavir Region Arrested on Charges of Girlfriend's Murder

The Investigation Committee of Armenia has uncovered a murder case involving a 33-year-old woman following investigative and procedural actions conducted by the Armavir regional investigative department.

A 34-year-old resident of Armavir has been charged in connection with the incident. According to the committee's information and public relations department, the investigation revealed that on December 25, 2020, at around 8:30 PM, the man met with his girlfriend on the Agavnatuan-Lernamerdz highway to discuss personal matters.

She arrived at the location in her Nissan Teana, where the 34-year-old man, with direct intent to kill, fired a weapon of unspecified type, unlawfully depriving her of life.

During the pre-investigation phase, several investigative measures were carried out, including an examination of the crime scene and searches, during which cartridges were found, and a 2cm long metal bullet was discovered in the woman's vehicle. The clothing worn by the man at the time of the incident was confiscated, and samples were taken. A number of examinations have been assigned.

Based on sufficient evidence obtained, the 34-year-old man has been charged under Part 1 of Article 104 (murder) and Part 1 of Article 235 (illegally acquiring, selling, storing, transporting, or carrying weapons, military equipment, explosive substances, or explosive devices) of the Armenian Criminal Code. A preventive measure of detention has been selected for him.
