Citizens Detained Near National Assembly Released, Some Face Criminal Charges: Statement

Numerous citizens gathered this morning at the entrances of the National Assembly building, forming a "wall of shame" for members of the My Step faction entering the building. Some citizens even greeted the My Step lawmakers with eggs.

This was reported in a statement by the Homeland Salvation Movement.

“During the action, My Step faction member Andranik Kocharyan insulted the protesters, and they threw eggs at his car. Another faction member, Sisak Gabrielyan, also got out of his vehicle, cursing and attacking the participants of the action. The police did not respond to the lawmakers' behavior. Instead, more than thirty citizens were detained, including the Chairman of the ARF Supreme Body, Simon Simonian, and ARF members Arzvik Minasyan and Hakob Matilyan. Later, the activists were released, but some of them face criminal charges,” the statement said.
