A GIS Map of Lamp Posts and Poles Will Be Created in Yerevan

The first deputy mayor of Yerevan, Hrachya Sargsyan, summarized the work carried out this year in several sectors under his coordination. He specifically noted: "Dear compatriots, we are living in a difficult and very responsible period for our history and statehood, and the only way to overcome this calamity and face the challenges ahead in our region is through daily, diligent, and persistent work for the development of the Republic of Armenia and ensuring the security of the Armenian people.

We must realize that otherwise, we will leave to our descendants a state filled with dangers, a lack of faith in the future, and approaching twilight. We must understand a simple thing; the world does not revolve around Armenia, and we need to interact with the outside world whose result should be the acquisition of allies. Achieving all of this requires a competitive and continuous education where content prevails over form.

Below, I will present the work carried out in 2020 and those planned for 2021. Some of the presented works may seem at first glance to be of little impact on solving the existing problems in the urban environment of Yerevan; nonetheless, I assure you that they provide an opportunity for effective governance and achieving set goals.

2020 Lighting:

  1. Within the framework of cooperation with the UN, 3,092 energy-saving (LED) lamps were acquired and replaced, adhering to European standards. This replacement was fully implemented in the Nubarashen and Davtashen administrative districts, as well as on Leninakan, Hasratyan, Shirazi, Fuchik, Hakob Hakobyan, Kievyan, Halabyan, Gay, Armenakyan, G. Hovsepyan, Koghbatsi, Zakyan, and Rubinyants streets.
  2. Also, under cooperation with the UN, 98 of the most dangerous pedestrian crossings were illuminated with appropriate lamps.
  3. In addition to the above programs, 4,003 energy-saving lamps were replaced in various administrative districts and several courtyards.
  4. With the support of EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) and the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership (E5P), a program to replace energy-saving lamps across 28 streets in Yerevan and to conduct underground cabling has been initiated. Work has started on Tumanian Street, where issues emerged due to the presence of previously unknown underground communications, necessitating project changes, as well as the acquisition of scanning equipment by the contractor to avoid similar problems in the next 27 streets.
  5. I ask for the forgiveness of all citizens who have faced inconveniences during the implementation of these works.
  6. The salary of employees serving the lighting of the Yerevan community, "YerQaghLuys" LLC, has been raised by 33%.
  7. To organize the works effectively and safely, 4 new Mercedes-Benz cargo-passenger vehicles have been acquired.
  8. For every 4 service areas in Yerevan, a Renault Logan car has been acquired.
  9. A registry and evaluation of 12 worn-out and unusable vehicles has been carried out with the aim of their disposal. The production years of these vehicles range from 1982 to 1990 (38-30 years of operation).

2021 Lighting:

  1. Under cooperation with the UN, it is planned to acquire 1,970 energy-saving (LED) lamps and to replace them on main roads in the Victory district, Davit Bek, Tbilisyan, Arakelyan, Estonian, Bashinjaghyan, Margaryan, Shinarar, Abelian, Mazmanyan, Beknazaryan streets and on the Ashtarak highway.
  2. Also, under cooperation with the UN, it is planned to replace energy-saving lamps throughout the whole Shengavit administrative district.
  3. It is planned to complete the lighting program for the 28 streets that commenced in 2020.
  4. An elevating vehicle is planned to be acquired for the safe and effective operation of the organization.
  5. A parking space will be constructed for vehicle parking and ongoing maintenance.
  6. Storage of used DNA lamps in special boxes is planned.
  7. A new management system for the lamps is to be implemented.
  8. A GIS map of lamp posts and pollarding will be created in Yerevan.

Thus, with clear objectives, we will continue to fulfill our steps towards building a strong city and a powerful homeland.
