The 'Vorotan' Sign in the Video is Located in the Kashatagh Region of Artsakh: Information Verification Center
Armenian media outlets, referencing the video shared by the Ararat Telegram channel (@ararathau), reported on December 24 that enemy tanks had entered the border community of Vorotan in the Syunik region. The internet was flooded with a video showing Azerbaijani forces knocking down a settlement sign with a tank.
However, the sign visible in the video indicates that it refers to the city of Vorotan (Azerbaijani: Kubatly), located in the Kashatagh region of Artsakh. Until 1993, Kubatly served as the administrative center of the eponymous region according to the administrative divisions of Soviet Azerbaijan. Following the first war, it came under Armenian control. During the large-scale military operations that began in Artsakh on September 27 of this year, the city fell under Azerbaijani control.
It is noteworthy that the source of the video, the Telegram channel, clearly states that it refers to the city of Vorotan in Artsakh, and not the Vorotan community in Syunik province.
