New Strain of Covid-19 Confirmed in Spain
A new strain of the coronavirus has been confirmed in Madrid, with four cases reported. This new variant was recently identified in the United Kingdom, according to AL Jazeera.
During a press conference, Antonio Zapatero, the deputy head of health for the Madrid regional government, stated that all four cases are connected to individuals who recently arrived from Great Britain. “The patients are not seriously ill. We know that this strain is more transmissible, but it does not cause more severe illness. There is no need for alarm,” he said.
Additionally, there are three more suspected cases in the country, but results from testing will be available later.
