500 Armenian and Georgian Intellectuals Discuss Regional Situation, Joint Memorandum to be Signed

Today, at the Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall of the Armenian State Philharmonic, a video conference was held between Armenian and Georgian intellectuals to discuss the regional situation and ways to respond to the challenges faced.

The participants emphasized the importance of maintaining spiritual and cultural ties between the countries during the post-war period and amid the escalating conditions of the pandemic.

Among the Armenian participants were Gagik Manasyan, president of the Federation of Armenian Intellectuals, human rights defender Arbak Khachatryan, composer Aram Satyan, director Tigran Khozmalyan, and other representatives of the intellectual community. From the Georgian side, notable attendees included world-renowned conductor George Pahlavanian, member of the National Security Council of Georgia Alexander Gvarishvili, alongside several other intellectuals.

As a result of the collaboration between Armenian and Georgian intellectuals, preparatory work for the "Hrademist" opera took place months ago at the site of the Garni Pagan Temple. Today, the intellectuals collectively discussed the creation of a joint cooperation memorandum, and it was decided to establish a working group to discuss the details of the memorandum more thoroughly.

Gagik Manasyan highlighted the age-old friendship of the Armenian and Georgian Christian peoples in his speech, emphasizing the need to search for unified solutions amidst the created situation. Arbak Khachatryan, for his part, stressed the need for uniting the intellectual elite and potential, as regional challenges could sever the spiritual and cultural ties between countries, leading to the devaluation of art and spirit and provoking further conflicts.

After the video conference concluded, the Armenian intellectuals exchanged thoughts on the current situation in Armenia and the challenges facing the country.
