Parliament Committee Approves Karen Arustamyan's Candidacy for the Audit Chamber Member Position
The extraordinary meeting of the National Assembly's Financial and Budgetary Affairs Committee discussed and approved the candidacy of Karen Arustamyan, presented by the "My Step" faction, for the vacant position in the Audit Chamber. This is the second time the ruling faction has presented Arustamyan's candidature for this role.
Arustamyan emphasized the need for the Audit Chamber to focus not only on disciplinary but also on qualitative audits. "It is extremely important for me that we not only discover inconsistencies or distortions that have already occurred and then think about who should be held accountable, but rather ensure that these do not happen at all. The focus of audits should shift more towards preventive actions," stated Arustamyan.
It should be noted that on December 10, Karen Arustamyan was not elected as a member of the Audit Chamber in a closed secret ballot in the parliament. 79 voted in favor, while 3 voted against, while he needed at least 80 votes to be elected.
