Import Ban on Turkish Origin Goods to Take Effect from December 31 for 6 Months, Says State Revenue Committee

The State Revenue Committee of Armenia reiterates that starting from December 31, 2020, the import ban on goods of Turkish origin, as outlined in the appendix of the Armenian government’s decision No. 1708-N dated October 20, 2020, will be enforced for a duration of 6 months.

The ban will not apply to goods imported before December 31, 2020, provided that all relevant customs operations are completed for these goods prior to that date. Specifically, these goods must be declared under the "Release for Domestic Consumption" customs procedure, corresponding customs fees must be paid, and the goods must be cleared by the specified date.

The State Revenue Committee encourages all parties to include the country of origin in the commercial documents for goods and, where applicable or upon customs authority’s request, to present a certificate of origin or declaration.

It is noted that the import ban applies to the specified goods of Turkish origin imported from all countries, including Turkey, Georgia, and other EAEU member states.

Furthermore, the State Revenue Committee warns that enhanced customs control will be conducted on these goods, including physical inspections carried out under surveillance from cameras installed at customs control points.

The Committee urges strict adherence to the provisions established by the government’s decision No. 1708-N dated October 20, 2020, and advises to avoid any potential violations.
