Garnik Isagulyan Released from Custody
The President of the "National Security" party, Garnik Isagulyan, has been released from court custody, reports News.am.
“Immediately today, while I was in the investigative room, charges were brought against me under Article 333 of the Criminal Code to ensure my detention. But in the name of justice, the motion was rejected,” his lawyer stated to reporters outside the court.
Garnik Isagulyan also remarked that he is being politically persecuted and did not rule out the possibility of being imprisoned one day.
Recall that on December 23, 2020, Garnik Isagulyan was arrested on suspicion of committing an apparent crime under Part 1 of Article 226.2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (public calls for violence based on gender, race, skin color, ethnic or social origin, genetic characteristics, language, religion, worldview, political or other views, affiliation with a national minority, property status, birth, disability, age, or other personal or social status).
The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia had announced that, as part of the investigation into a video entitled “The person who shoots Nikol should be awarded the title of National Hero or offered a million-dollar reward” posted on YouTube, various investigatory and procedural actions revealed that during a press conference, Garnik Isagulyan publicly called for violence against the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia based on political and other views.
