Over One Million Dollars Stolen from the Russian Foreign Ministry Building

In 2019, more than one million dollars were stolen from the main building of the Russian Foreign Ministry located at Smolenskaya-Sennaya Square in Moscow. РЕН ТВ reports that a female employee of the department and a man living with her are suspected in connection to the incident. Media sources indicate that the couple is still at large. The whereabouts of the missing banknotes remain unknown.

One and a half million dollars was received by the Russian Foreign Ministry for consular services from Iran, which was dispatched via diplomatic mail. On November 29 of last year, the funds were transferred to the office of Natalia Agaltsova, a leading expert in the ministry's currency and financial department. Two-thirds of the money went missing between December 16 and 19.

When a commission checked the funds on December 19, it was found that there was a shortfall of $1,066,638.
