During the Rally, Calls Were Made to Resolve Issues with Weapons; Calls for Armed Coup Were Heard: Tatoyan
Today, during one of the mass rallies, a speech was made in which the use of weapons to resolve issues was discussed, and calls for an armed coup were heard. This was reported by the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan.
The statement also noted: "Although immediately afterwards, one of the opposition leaders emphasized in his speech that violence is unacceptable and that issues should be resolved only through constitutional means, what was described remains a severely condemnable and absolutely unacceptable phenomenon."
"The organizers of the opposition's mass protests occurring these days must consider that the opposition is also an institution of the state; the state of human rights and solidarity in the country also depends on the opposition, thus they should act accordingly. The supremacy of law and the guarantee of human rights must be the foundation of all initiatives."
"Alongside this, the law enforcement and other competent state bodies are obliged to ensure the rule of law both in their own actions and in the country—each within their own jurisdiction."
