VIDEO: Council Member Proposes 100% Salary Increase for Mayor and Deputies

In 2021, the fund for bonuses in the Yerevan budget is set at 1 billion 23 million drams, which is about 49% less than the previous year. This was noted today, December 23, during the Yerevan City Council meeting by Deputy Mayor Sergey Nersisyan while presenting the draft budget for the upcoming year.

Tigran Galstyan, a member of the Council from the 'My Step' faction, stated that he is strongly opposed to giving bonuses as part of salaries. He suggested demonstrating political will by increasing salaries by 30%, 50%, and 100%. “I propose to increase the salaries of the mayor, his deputies, heads of administrative districts, their deputies, heads of departments and their deputies by 100%, while the salaries of division heads and their deputies should be increased by 50%, and the remaining employees by 30%,” he said.
