One of the rarest predators in Armenia, the manul has been rediscovered in the republic after 100 years.
The manul (Latin: Otocolobus manul) is a predatory mammal belonging to the family of felines, and it is registered in the Red Book of Armenia. It is also known as the Pallas's cat, named after the German naturalist Peter Pallas, who discovered the manul on the shores of the Caspian Sea in the 18th century.
