Gayane Melkum Melkumyan Nominated for New Deputy Mayor of Yerevan

During the Yerevan City Council meeting, the candidacy of Gayane Melkum Melkumyan, a member of the My Step faction, is under discussion for the position of deputy mayor. In response to a comment from Ani Khachatryan, a member of the Council's Light faction, stating that she never imagined Melkumyan could be the deputy mayor for culture, Melkumyan remarked that the deputy mayor coordinates several sectors, making it difficult to envision a person who could be an expert in all these areas.

"In reality, the position has a coordinating and controlling role; that is the mission and role of this position, which is subject to relevant subdivisions and organizations within the system that have the necessary expertise and experience. It is essential to work with them to identify the problems in the sector, set the correct targets, have a roadmap for their solutions, and monitor the implementation of these goals," Melkumyan stated.
