Description of the Established Political Situation in the Country: The Prime Minister's Statement
Nikol Pashinyan has made a statement on his Facebook page regarding the internal political situation in Armenia. The statement is as follows:
“The description of the established political situation in the country is as follows:
- As a result of the 2018 revolution, the "elite" that lost power in Armenia is trying to achieve a revanche. Moreover, this is not only about the political "elite" but also about all those who had privileges until 2018 and have lost them afterwards.
- The people, who have felt their power since the 2018 revolution, do not want to lose that status, especially now, when some have employed the logic of "if you don't come to the rally, you will be dismissed" taking advantage of the fact that the government is more focused on servicing external security issues.
Thus, the real contradiction is not between the government and the opposition, but between the "elite" deprived of privileges in 2018 and the people. However, in any case, it will be the people who will have the decisive say, because if the people express their opinion, the "elites" cannot do anything.
I, of course, will do everything to ensure that the people do not lose the opportunity to express their opinion and say that opinion. But at this moment, our priority is ensuring the external security of Armenia and Artsakh, and external security must not be called into question in the mentioned actions.”
