44-Year-Old Man from Shirak Region Charged with Killing His Guest
On December 18, 2020, at 15:10, a call was received by the Yerevan City Police Department about a burned body found inside a former boiler house located at 51 Shahumyan Street in Armavir city, as reported by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
Following this incident, an investigation was initiated by the Armavir Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia. It was revealed that between December 16 and 17, 2020, a 44-year-old resident of Shirak Region inflicted fatal blows to the head and face of a male guest staying in his rented house on Mashtots Street in Armavir, causing injuries incompatible with life.
Subsequently, the 44-year-old man transported the body to the aforementioned boiler house next to his home, where he attempted to dispose of the body by burning it to eliminate evidence.
With a combination of sufficient evidence, the 44-year-old man has been charged under Article 104 (1st part) of the Criminal Code of Armenia (murder), and he has been remanded in custody as a preventive measure. The investigation is ongoing.
