Winter Break for Schoolchildren to Start from December 28

Schoolchildren from grades 3 to 12 will have their winter break from December 28, 2020, to January 10, 2021, inclusive. First graders will be on winter break from December 28, 2020, to January 24, 2021, inclusive, while second graders will have their break from December 28, 2020, to January 17, 2021, inclusive. This information was provided by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport.

It is noted that in case of an emergency situation (adverse weather conditions, spread of infectious diseases, natural disasters, etc.), the educational institution may implement the basic educational programs through distance learning to ensure the continuation of education, in accordance with the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport's order No. 09-N dated May 20, 2020. In the event of such an emergency, the Ministry may establish additional breaks, provided that the missed hours are made up before the end of the academic sessions and that the competent authority is informed according to the institution's hierarchy.

In private educational institutions, the duration and timing of breaks, as well as any changes therein, are determined by the founder, who must notify the Ministry within 5 working days.
