Kapan Mayor on Pashinyan's Visit: 'They Probably Informed Him That the Roads Are Impassable'

“It made no sense for him to come. They probably informed him that the roads are simply impassable and that residents are standing in a way that they won’t allow passage. Based on this, he probably didn’t come to Kapan,” Kapan Mayor Gevorg Parsyan said in an interview with ArmDaily.am, reflecting on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's visit to Syunik.

Parsayan also considers it normal for there to be supporters of Pashinyan in the communities, noting that it should not come as a surprise: “Naturally, I believe that in every community he still has such supporters, but they are a small minority. However, one should not be surprised that there are supporters for him in Syunik; there are supporters in every community. As for the behavior of the priest, that was his personal approach.”

He mentioned that at this moment, residents have opened the roads. Regarding the border situation, Parsyan noted that there is still movement from the enemy.

Commenting on the arrest of Goris Mayor Arushan Arushanyan, Kapan Mayor said, “I do not have complete information yet, but as far as I know, he was arrested for organizing illegal gatherings. However, it is clear that this arrest was related not to legal considerations but to ensure that Nikol Pashinyan's visit would proceed without obstacles.”
