Hearing on Arrest of Goris Mayor Arush Arushanyan Postponed

In the Yerevan City Court, presided over by Judge Vache Margaryan, the hearing on the appeal against the arrest of Goris Mayor Arush Arushanyan has been postponed due to the absence of the prosecuting authority. This was reported to NEWS.am by Arushanyan's lawyer, Armen Melkonyan.

Melkonyan noted that the prosecuting authority had submitted a letter to the court stating that they were unable to appear.

The court session has been rescheduled for tomorrow at 10:30 AM.

Arush Arushanyan was arrested under Article 34-251, part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. The criminal case has been accepted into the jurisdiction of the Investigative Committee's Main Department for Combatting Corruption, and a preliminary investigation is underway.

It is noteworthy that a number of human rights defenders and citizens have gathered in the courtyard of the Investigative Committee in support of the Goris mayor.

Yesterday, Arush Arushanyan announced that he would be at the gates of Goris this morning and would not allow Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to enter Syunik, after which he was detained.
