EU Twinning Program to Provide Two Years of Support to the National Assembly of Armenia
The inaugural online meeting of the EU-funded Twinning project titled "Strengthening the Capacities of the National Assembly of Armenia for Further Support in Monitoring and Implementing the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement" took place on December 21.
The implementation of the two-year project has been entrusted to the parliaments of Greece and Italy.
As reported to Armenpress by the Permanent Committee on European Integration of the National Assembly of Armenia, speakers at the meeting included Andrea Victorin, Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia; Vassilis Maragos, Head of the Department for Armenia in the Directorate General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission; Paola Taverna, Vice President of the Italian Senate; Vassilios Bagios, Special Representative of the President of the Hellenic Parliament and Coordinator of Political Affairs for the Twinning Project; and Arman Yeghoyan, Chairman of the Permanent Committee on European Integration of the National Assembly, along with other senior officials from the parliaments of the participant countries.
The parties discussed the provisions of the EU Twinning project and outlined upcoming joint activities, particularly emphasizing the importance of implementing such programs for Armenia during these challenging times. According to the agreements reached, the official launch event of the project will be held in February 2021.
