Electricity Prices to Increase for Some Consumers in Armenia from February 1

The Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia has announced that due to the analysis of both positive and negative factors concerning the pricing review process of major electricity producers and service providers, a financial gap has emerged in electricity prices applicable to consumers starting from the tariff year beginning February 1, 2021.

As a result, a need has arisen to revise the prices of electricity sold to consumers. According to calculations by the staff of the Public Services Regulatory Commission, the average weighted price of electricity sold to consumers needs to be increased by 2.27 AMD per kWh (including VAT).

The proposal includes: 1) keeping the current prices unchanged for socially vulnerable families and residential consumers with monthly consumption of up to 400 kWh (which accounts for about 90% of residential consumers), and 2) increasing prices for the remaining consumers by 3 AMD per kWh (including VAT).
