You Are Making Yourself a Participant in the Destruction of the History of Independent Armenia: Seyran Ohanyan Addresses Ararat Mirzoyan in an Open Letter

The former Minister of Defense of Armenia, Seyran Ohanyan, has addressed an open letter to the President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan:

“Mr. Mirzoyan, we are a parliamentary governance state, and you are the head of the parliament, professionally a historian. Today, the borders of our state are being drawn in Syunik according to the markers of the Soviet Union as outlined by the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan. I have a few questions for you:

1. Do you accept the borders of the Soviet Union that have not existed for over 30 years? I believe you are aware of how the Armenian Artsakh was annexed to Soviet Azerbaijan by Stalin's order in 1921.
2. If you acknowledge the borders of the Soviet Union, do you accept Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan?
3. Don’t you think that by dragging the state back 32 years, rendering the liberation struggle of the Armenian people and the Artsakh war 'for nothing,' you are making yourself a participant in the destruction of the history of independent Armenia and the total ‘exile’ of the Armenian state in the civilized world?”
