Call of the Reserve and Retired Generals of the RA Armed Forces to the People
The Reserve and retired generals of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia have issued a statement in which they say:
“Dear compatriots, we—the reserve and retired generals of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia—considering the alarming situation before our Homeland, realizing the necessity to find solutions as soon as possible, emphasizing the need for professionalism and effective foreign and domestic policies for our state, and being guided by the primary issues of general security and the inviolability of borders, deem it crucial to form a new, professional, knowledgeable, and politically prepared government. Through this call, we appeal to our society and authorities.
Unfortunately, the recent developments and the unleashed war have caused us to lose one of the most vital components of our Fatherland and its security. Our people and army have stood at the front and the rear to defend the Homeland with all their strength; however, incompetent, careless, and arrogant authorities have led our country down a disastrous path.
It is essential to reorganize as soon as possible and to engage the full potential of the Armenia-Artsakh-Diaspora triad, analyze and assess the current situation, outline the true paths, and swiftly work to implement them. Today, it is more necessary than ever to unite under the principle of Nation-Army and lead by this motto.
We call upon our society to soberly observe the ever-growing problems and new security threats in the region. To this end, we consider it crucial to establish political stability in the country, ensuring the formation of new, knowledgeable, and experienced authorities as soon as possible, and to clearly define the tasks of all state structures, especially that of the army.
The current authorities have shown that they are unable to govern the state, lack the necessary qualities, cannot bear the heavy burden of responsibility before the Homeland, and must resign immediately.
We stand by our people and army today as well, and we are ready to direct our efforts for the sake of a secure Armenia and Artsakh.
In the current situation, alongside the peacekeeping efforts of our ally, the Russian Federation, we must not remain indifferent and be prepared for any encroachment by the enemy. This is the imperative of the day.”
