VIDEO: The Chief of Peacekeepers Stated That You Must Surrender Weapons, Says the Mayor of Agavnuni
The Mayor of Agavnuni, Andranik Chavushyan, has shared a video discussing his conversation with Russian peacekeepers. He stated, "The chief of peacekeepers said that we must surrender our weapons. I asked, will you guarantee that we will not have casualties or abductions as before? He promised, and I said I would hand over my weapon when you ensure the terms of the 5-kilometer zone. Ensure the 5 kilometers, and I will feel at ease, cultivate the land, and live; I also need some tranquility," he said.
The mayor noted that the villagers also have the right to defend themselves. "We have not violated any laws; we are merely peaceful civilians, and when they do not do their job, we are forced to protect our mountains. They are now claiming that we are violating the law by not complying. We said, if this is the law, we will comply, no issue, but you must provide guarantees for us to trust you that you will act, not just wake up in the morning and leave us. We stated that we do not want conflicts, but at least leave us with some of the weapons. He said, we are not discussing this; you will surrender your weapons, and I will ensure your safety, I promise," he added.
