Putin Speaks Again About Artsakh
Today, during a remote meeting of leaders from the CIS member states, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that everyone was concerned about the armed clashes in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, noting that the countries involved in the confrontation were neighboring states, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“Unfortunately, the fighting led to numerous casualties, exacerbating the already tense situation in the South Caucasus and generally increasing the risks of the spread of terrorist threats. It has already been noted that Russia has made specific mediation efforts to end the bloodshed, to achieve a complete cessation of hostilities, and to initiate the stabilization process,” Putin stated.
According to him, to achieve these goals, they followed the principled agreements reached within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group. “As is well-known, a trilateral statement was signed on November 9, and it is important that it is generally implemented consistently. Peacekeepers stationed along the contact line are doing everything they can to prevent a new escalation of the situation,” he added.
The Russian president emphasized that now it is essential to provide humanitarian assistance to people in the affected areas. He also specifically addressed the necessity of restoring cultural and religious monuments.
