«Let Pashinyan Come to Syunik, He Will See How We Welcome Him…» Says Goris Mayor
«The lands were given away by the so-called Prime Minister, the lands we protected with our blood… He took the lands stretching 26 km from Vorotan and gifted them to the Turks, gave away half of Shurnukh, and handed over the entire road segment: He is giving everything away alone…» said Goris Mayor Arush Arushanian in an interview with «Factinfo».
Recall that the government has instructed the defenders in Syunik to withdraw from their positions, including the main heights that had previously ensured the security of Syunik. Moreover, a deadline has been set for December 18 at 17:00, which has caused dissatisfaction among the population and mayors. For two days now, residents of Syunik have been blocking the Goris-Kapan highway and demanding explanations from the authorities, as the decision has jeopardized the security of Syunik, making the Goris-Kapan travel unsafe.
Furthermore, it is unclear which document Pashinyan relied on to hand over strategically important territories to the Azerbaijanis, as there is no mention of this in the November 10 agreement. To the question of whether he is aware of the document under which the handover of the territories is taking place, the mayor of Goris responded that he is not aware and they have not seen any document: «The soldier and the volunteer are on the ground; I will add that they are ready to fight to keep their land that they have earned with blood, but no orders are being given. Now imagine what situation the people living here are in…», noted Arush Arushanian.
Addressing the topic of Pashinyan's upcoming working visit to Syunik on Monday, Goris Mayor Arushanian's response was brief and blunt: «Let him come to Syunik and see how we welcome him…»
