Russian Border Guards to Be Deployed in Certain Areas of Armenia-Azerbaijan Border: Ministry of Defense

During a visit to the Syunik province on December 17, Armenian Defense Minister Vagharshak Harutyunyan held a working consultation with the commander of the military unit, the governor of Syunik, and the commander of the territorial division of the National Security Service’s border troops, as reported by the Ministry of Defense press service.

During the meeting, issues related to the delimitation of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, the deployment of armed forces units, and the placement of border troops in newly formed sectors were discussed. The head of the defense agency instructed senior officers participating in border negotiations to focus on troop deployment, the establishment of security outposts, and the process of forming new units based on directions.

The commander of the military unit and the governor of Syunik reported on the work being carried out in disputed areas, emphasizing that border discussions between the parties continue.

Vagharshak Harutyunyan also met with officers of the Russian peacekeeping contingent to address the supervision of the Goris-Stepanakert road, the plan for the deployment of Russian border guards along Armenia's border with Azerbaijan, as well as the search operations for individuals reported missing due to the war and upcoming actions.
