How Robert Kocharyan Managed to Leave the Country

The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that yesterday it became known that Armenia's second president, Robert Kocharyan, is traveling to Moscow for a three-day visit. However, details about meetings have not been presented.

Interestingly, Robert Kocharyan, as a defendant in court, has restrictions on leaving the country. He was allowed to exit the country until November 7 based on a special decision.

“Zhoghovurd” previously reported on November 3 that Kocharyan was supposed to travel to Moscow with Armenia's first president, Levon Ter-Petrosyan. However, he tested positive for COVID-19, and before the 14-day period elapsed for him to make the trip, the authorized time for his exit from Armenia had already expired.

So how was Robert Kocharyan able to leave the country? In response to this question, the head of Robert Kocharyan's office, Viktor Sogomonian, stated, “The court has permitted it.” However, Sogomonian did not elaborate on what meetings the former president would have in Moscow, whether he will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and what the agenda of the meetings will be.
